Laura and Olivia’s wedding was intimate, relaxed, and cheerful. The ceremony took place at Brighton Town Hall, a warm and inviting space, followed by a reception in a beautiful room. The couple wanted candid, paparazzi-style couples photos.
Their style was modern and chic. Liv wore a white waistcoat with matching trousers and jacket, while Laura wore a silk jumpsuit with a scalloped bead top overlay.
The couples photoshoot was relaxed and playful. They walked down the road in slightly windy conditions, jumped into a taxi, and tried to brave the seafront, though it was too windy and rainy. Overall, the wedding felt intimate, relaxed, and cheerful, perfectly reflecting Laura and Liv’s personalities.
Why Did the Couple Choose Brighton for Their European Wedding?
Laura & Olivia: We have lived in Brighton for 5 and a half years and absolutely love it. We love living by the sea, and have made some amazing memories and friends since living here. Brighton is such an inclusive, welcoming place and we have felt at home here since the day we moved here. It made sense to have our wedding in our favorite city by the sea.
What Makes Brighton Special for (Destination) Weddings?
Kitty, the photographer: I love Brighton for its vibrant, eclectic energy and the way it balances seaside charm with modern, forward thinking style. The seafront and quintessential English streets provide a playful and dynamic backdrop for couples who want candid, joyful imagery. Brighton Town Hall offers a warm and inviting ceremony space, whilst Guesthouse Hotel has a sophisticated but laidback atmosphere, that perfectly suits the types of couples getting married in Brighton – cool and fashionable as well as down to earth and understated. The city encourages spontaneity, whether it’s jumping in a taxi, exploring streets, or braving a windy seafront, making it a perfect location for couples who want natural, movement-filled, and memorable wedding photography.
Can You Get Legally Married in England?
Yes, Laura & Olivia had a legal ceremony at Brighton Town Hall.

Did the Couple Incorporate Any Cultural Aspects of Brigton into Their Wedding?
Laura & Olivia: Much of the wine was from local Sussex vineyards, and we had fresh local seafood for lunch. All of our vendors were also local to Brighton.
What Was the Couple’s Experience with Getting Married in Brighton During July?
Laura & Olivia: Brighton comes to life in the summer. There is such a buzz and when the sun shines on the promenade it feels magical. Definitely recommend this time of year.

What Are the Best Tips for Planning a (Destination) Wedding in Brighton?
Laura & Olivia: Plan Around the Seasons: For us it was Summer – Warmer weather, longer days, but busiest and pricier.
Plan for Photography & Scenic Shots
Brighton is highly photogenic:
Brighton Pier & Beach: Classic seaside shots.
The Lanes & Regency Squares: Quaint cobbled streets.
Brighton is perfect for a destination wedding or elopement because of its mix of seaside charm, historic elegance, and vibrant city life. Plan ahead, hire local vendors if you can, and have an option to go inside if the weather is bad! (UK summer can be unpredictable!).
Kitty, the photographer: My top tips for planning a wedding or elopement in Brighton are to embrace the city’s variety and plan for different weather. If it’s a little rainy, the bandstand is a favourite sheltered spot, whilst still getting those sea views. Just check that there isn’t a wedding planned for that day, you don’t want to crash!
North Laine has countless eclectic photography backdrops, though is often quite busy. The South Laines are filled with old jewellery shops, painted in rich colours. The narrow streets make for a great location for romantic portraits.
If you’re looking for kitsch, look no further than the bright lights of Brighton Pier. If beach portraits are what you’re looking for, but you want to avoid the crowds (and have a bit of time) head towards Hove. Here you’ll also find the bones of North Pier which make for a striking backdrop. While The Laines are perfect for cute, whimsical vibes, for grand streets and epic doorways, Hove is ideal.
And if it’s greenery you’re after, Pavilion Gardens is a beautiful option (you won’t be able to take photos in front of The Pavilion itself unless you have a permit). Working with local vendors who know the city ensures you can capture all these spots seamlessly.
How Did the Couple Personalize Their Wedding in Brighton?
Laura & Olivia: We both met 8 years ago whilst working together at a cake and dessert shop. Instead of having a traditional wedding cake, we had a brownie tower baked by our friend Lizzie who also worked at the same shop. We also gave each individual day guest a handwritten card explaining to them why they are so special to us. Each card was different but “seaside” themed, and all designed by local Sussex artists.
What Challenges Did the Couple Face While Planning Their Wedding in Brighton, and How Did They Overcome Them?
Laura & Olivia: The only challenge was in the beginning deciding what venue to choose, as there was too much amazing choice in Brighton! But once we decided to, it was perfect and smooth.
What Advice Would the Couple Give to Others Planning a Wedding in Brighton?
Laura & Olivia: Book as far ahead as you can – Brighton weddings are popular, especially in the summer!

What Were the Most Memorable Moments from This Wedding?
Laura & Olivia: Seeing each other walk down the aisle – Olivia with her Mum Gill, and Laura with her Dad, Andrew, was a beautiful and emotional moment. Walking out of the town hall with everyone throwing confetti at us and then proceeding to walk through the iconic Brighton Lanes as onlookers cheered and congratulated us was so joyful. Dancing together with all of our friends and family into the night drinking cocktails with many laughs and happy tears.
Why Is Brighton One of the Best Places to Get Married in Europe?
Laura & Olivia: Brighton is an amazing place to get married, especially as a same-sex couple. The energy of the city is unmatched. You can be your complete authentic self without a care in the world. And it’s a lot of fun, of course!
