“We dreamt about an elopement styled shoot that included a horse and a simple love story between two souls, who found each other on this earth.
The location was an old abandoned quarry, just on the outskirts of Ljubljana. A place we adore dearly and often visit with our dogs and horses.
It was a true collaboration of feminine energy, we collected wildflowers from our field to make an arrangement and bouquet. We took time to enjoy the breakfast and let the couple enjoy it as if it was their actual elopement.
A dear friend of mine was kind enough to lend us the sweet horse named Tulipan (Tulip), who eagerly tried to munch on the brides bouquet. They formed a real connection through the shoot.
It was a rare moment when we got up early – before the sunrise and enjoyed the first rays of sun as the couple red their vows in the middle of the lake in the quarry.” – Anja, the photographer

Anja: The soft colour palette of the stone and the water – lake in the quarry.
Your top tips for planning a destination wedding/elopement in this location?
Anja: Most likely you will need to rent the location off as it is open to public and has a lot of frequent visitors who enjoy the location. There are no facilities, so it is not the best to plan a full wedding there, but it is a great location for a photoshoot.
When is the best time of day/year to plan a destination wedding/elopement in this location?
Anja: you can plan something here year round!

Do you need any permits or permission from landowners for this location?
Anja: Yes you do! So be sure to get that taken care off beforehand.
What advice would you give to others planning a destination wedding/elopement in this location?
Anja: It is very easily accessible from Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It gets busy, so early morning hours are perfect to enjoy privacy. Weekends are also more busy. There are no facilities around, so be aware of that. The lake is very warm in the summer so you can take a swim in it if you like!
