When Christine & Matthew started planning their wedding, they wanted to elope in the Dolomites with their closest family present. However, as they got further into planning, they realized that flying the family to Italy and finding a ceremony location that was suitable for everyone was a bit too complicated. So instead, they decided to have a beach wedding with family. But since their trip to the Dolomites was already planned and booked, what would have been their elopement became their honeymoon instead.

Not wanting to miss the opportunity, they brought their wedding outfits with them so that they could wear them one more time. To make the day extra meaningful, they also decided to exchange personal vows, since this was part of their original plan for coming to the Dolomites.

Swapping Seceda Crowds for a Peaceful Sunset Location

Originally, the couple wanted to exchange their vows on Seceda, with the famous mountain backdrop they had seen in so many photos. However, after taking the cable car up and arriving at the location in the middle of the afternoon, they started to feel uncomfortable with so many other people around. So they spend some time just enjoying the views and having a drink at the cafe, and then headed down and across to a second location where we’d planned to go for a sunset picnic.

Arriving at the second location, the sun was creating a gorgeous warm glow across the mountains. The pair hiked across to a secluded spot, and exchanged their vows with one another, while their planner Jlenia set up a beautiful mountain picnic for them to enjoy. After the crowds of Seceda, this second location gave them the experience they were looking for – a quiet and peaceful moment in the mountains.
