Tucked away on the sun-kissed shores of Mallorca, where rust-colored cliffs meet the waves, El Toro offers the dreamiest setting for an intimate elopement. When photographer Tatiana travelled to Mallorca, she didn’t want to miss the opportunity to photograph this beautiful session with couple Daniella and Nico. This styled session was designed to inspire couples drawn to the raw, natural beauty of the coast.

What was the inspiration behind this styled shoot?

Tatiana: With a recent travel to Mallorca and being an intimate wedding and elopement photographer I wanted to capture a real couple in a coastal location that would be ideal for an intimate elopement. This breath taking coastal location blew me away. Not only did the location offer an adventure because hiking down the coast was involved but the sheer beauty of the natural stair case in the coastal stones and the platform of cliffs at the bottom was just so perfect. I had a local wedding photographer who is a friend of mine help put out a model call to Mallorca and we found this lovely couple Nico + Daniella who were up for the adventure and styled shoot.

What do you love about this location?

Tatiana: The adventure down hiking and the natural raw beauty of the carved stairs in the coastal cliffs. This location had such incredible composition with the setting sun and the privacy was fantastic for this majestic spot right up against the sea.

Your top tips for planning a destination wedding/elopement in this location?

Tatiana: This location is considered a front country location so it was very accessible to drive to and park. The park itself at the top of the cliffs has a gathering area and trail that could be used for a ceremony and small gatherings if a couple wanted to gather with a bit of a group. Getting a permit/ permission would be easy by contacting the local municipality. The actually location at the bottom of the hike is a short distance. Only taking roughly ten minutes to descend. The rocky location could also host maybe a group with 10 people max including an officiant and photographer. The hike makes it a bit inaccessible should there be elderly or less able bodied people so having the diversity to gather at the top with a group then descend for a more intimate gathering at the bottom gives the location some great options.

When is the best time of day/year to plan a destination wedding/elopement in this location?

Tatiana: With the location being right at sea level considerations would be to elope during the warm seasons in Mallorca and less rain to avoid potential for slippery/muddy surfaces. Late spring and summer. To avoid crowds during the week would be best to ensure privacy for the ceremony and event. The sunset is what elevates this location: I would recommend for an evening event or alternatively sunrise. Either option would be fantastic.

Do you need any permits or permission from landowners for this location?

Tatiana: In Spain legal weddings are only allowed to be done at indoor venues or town halls. So if that’s a consideration Spain would be a fantastic host to have a symbolic ceremony with the couple either marrying in their home country before their symbolic ceremony or to avoid the extra cost and logistics to legally marry in the country if the couple is not from there. Depending on the gathering and if a couple wanted to set up any ceremony arches a permit may be required through the Governments department of environment. But a smaller elopement for a symbolic event may not require a permit if the group is staying on local trails and respecting the environment by following Leave no Trace principles. It would be depend on the specifics to each event and what the couple was hoping for.

What advice would you give to others planning a destination wedding/elopement in this location?

Tatiana: To find an elopement photographer to help guide them through an experience and navigating whether permits are required in the location depending on their specific details and desires for the day. And to plan to stay in Spain for 4 days minimum. There is just such an adventure that could be tied to having their elopement in Mallorca, and so many amazing things to do in the local areas.
