When you live in Florida, but decide to elope to gorgeous Paros in Greece. This is exactly what Makayla & Elijah decided to do! They got the legal bits over and done with in Florida. Makayla’s sister got ordained and they got married in their pj’s before jetting off to Greece.

Their Greece elopement consisted of a first look and personal vows before getting bride & groom photos. Katelyn decided to use the balcony of their hotel, Paros Palace, for their elopement. It overlooked rolling hills, the ocean, and iconic Greek architecture! This is worth a 30 hour trip!

how did you choose the location?

From Katelyn, the photographer: Location One was outside of the couple’s hotel, Paros Palace. Then for location two (Naousa 844 01, Greece) I found location scouting on a fourwheeler. Both of these locations were decided on after arriving. Luckily the couple trusted me completely and had a few back up areas before arriving, but decided these two locations were too breathtaking to pass up.
Keep in mind that these locations may be difficult for older guests to get to.

what Are your top tips for planning an elopement in this area?

From Katelyn: I recommend the photographer and couple renting a scooter or four wheeler to get around the island and location scooting where you think is best. A mistake we made was relying on early morning taxi service. The taxi service wasn’t running so my husband had to, one at a time, bring us to our photo location on the four wheeler. We were not able to get the sunrise photos we hoped for, but the location was so stunning so it didn’t matter. Another piece of advice would be to be okay going with the flow. Plans might not work out, but it’s okay!!
July and August would be the best times of year to visit.

Why did the couple decide to elope in europe, in greece in particular?

From Makayla, the bride: Elijah and I initially met in middle school and then reconnected during a winter break from college (Me) and the Navy (Elijah).

We decided to elope because we knew we wanted to travel abroad for our honeymoon, so instead of spending thousands on a wedding we decided to spend all of that money on an unforgettable trip. It was an easy decision for us because we both have large families and knew that appeasing everyone wasn’t going to work.

The natural beauty and the relaxed vibes of the Mediterranean put Greece at the top of our bucket list. Katelyn suggested Paros and after listening to podcasts and reading blogs about Greece we agreed on the island of Paros because of its gorgeous views and less tourists. Giving us the most intimate marriage.

Any other advice you’d like to share based on your experience?

From Katelyn, the photographer: Paros, Greece was a beautiful island and much less busy compared to Santaroini & Athens. I think it is great to bring your couple to such a beautiful, more private island, but also very important that we are respectful to this island and are careful about bringing way too much attention to it.

From Makayla, the bride: Some family members may be upset with the idea of eloping, but in the end the only two people whose opinions really count are the two getting married. Do what is going to make you happy!
