Venice, the city that oozes romance everywhere you look. Definitely a location you can picture yourself saying I do. Sarah Bieber photographed a stunning inspiration session in this gorgeous city at various beautiful locations that are all amazing for either your vow exchange or to have your wedding photos taken.

What was the inspiration behind this styled shoot?

Sarah: Venice is called the city of love, and we wanted to lean into the romance and beauty of it all. Our getting ready location, Hotel Ca’ Alvise, has many different colored rooms but we were lucky enough to be able to book the red room which gave us the excited we were looking for.
The florals were purchased at a nearby flower shop and were put together the morning of this shoot.
We really wanted to explore Venice, so we walked all over the city. Some places we visited are super well known like the Rialto Bridge, and some were hidden alleyways that we stumbled upon.
They exchanged their vows in front of Basilica di San Marco, we explored outside of Palazzo Ducale and along the waterfront before ending the day in one of the nearby hotels celebrating with a glass of champagne.

What do you love about this location?

Sarah: Venice is so beautiful and romantic. It’s unlike anywhere else in the world! It makes for such a stunning and special elopement location. The vibes are incredible!

What Are Your top tips for planning a destination wedding/elopement in this location?

Sarah: Hire a photographer that knows Venice well and will know where all the best photo spots are, whether they’re well known or off-the-beaten path. Some of the places we visited throughout the shoot are not well known. Your photographer will be your best asset!

When is the best time of day/year to plan a destination wedding/elopement in Venice?

Sarah: The summer months are insanely busy, and the winter months can be cold and rainy. the best time of the year to plan a destination wedding in Venice is in the spring (April + May) and fall (September + October).

Do you need any permits or permission from landowners for this location?

Sarah: It depends on how many guests, and the specific location that vows are exchanged.

What advice would you give to others planning a destination wedding/elopement in this location?

Sarah: Plan your elopement during shoulder season (spring and fall) to save on costs and avoid the massive crowds during high season.
There are SO MANY beautiful hotels in Venice. Book an aesthetic hotel to make your getting ready photos really pop!
