Meet Natalia & Gerard

Tell us your story

Hi! I’m Natalia, but most people call me Lia. I’m originally from Barcelona and I live in Iceland with my partner Gerard and our daughter Emma. We also spend long periods of time in Spain and Italy for work and family.

I’m an introvert at heart, but I love spending quality time with my people. Family means everything to me and I truly believe that friends are the family we choose.

I’m all about adventure travel, anything outdoorsy, camping under the stars and of course, photography. It’s not just my job, it’s my biggest passion. I’ve been working as a professional photographer for 5 years, but I’ve had a camera in my hand since I was 16 (I’m 32 now).

I’m obsessed with Italian food, I share life with a dog and a cat too, and at the very top of my bucket list? Sailing to Antarctica on the Bark Europa.

When I’m not traveling or taking photos, you’ll probably find me doing CrossFit or spending up precious time with my daughter.

How long have you been working in the wedding industry?

5 years.

What made you get into weddings & elopements?

Moving to Iceland.

What do you love about intimate weddings and elopements?

What I love the most about capturing intimate weddings and elopements is the intention behind them. Most couples choose to elope because the big traditional wedding circus just isn’t for everyone. There’s something so raw and genuine about elopements, something I rarely ever saw in traditional weddings.

Before moving to Iceland, I photographed a few traditional weddings in Spain, and honestly, it was a completely different vibe. Those felt like a show, an experience designed for the guests. But with an elopement? It’s the opposite. It’s about the couple, their connection, and making the day truly theirs, unique and meaningful.

Plus, I’ve always loved landscape photography and being in nature. So combining couple portraits with epic landscapes, bringing both together in harmony without one overshadowing the other, that’s my passion. That’s my art.

How would you describe your approach to your work?

We’re a small but mighty team! It’s mostly me and my husband, Gerard, we shoot, plan and adventure together. During the busy season, we’re lucky to have Christina on board too.

Our approach is all about keeping things real, intentional and stress free for the couple. We’re not there to direct the couple’s day or tell them what to do. We’re there to witness it and capture it in a way that tells their story honestly and beautifully. We blend the wild beauty of nature with the raw emotions between two people, without making it feel like a photoshoot.

We care deeply about creating a safe, inclusive and relaxed space where they can just be themselves. No pressure to perform, no awkward posing, just they, their love, and the adventure they’re living. It’s not just about pretty pictures, it’s about how the whole experience felt.

What’s your favourite part of a wedding day?

Honestly… I almost always cry during the ceremony. But the truth is, no two elopements are the same, so I don’t really have one favorite moment.

In Iceland, everything is constantly changing: the weather, the landscape, the light… and of course, every couple brings their own energy. That means every elopement is totally different and that’s what I love the most. There’s always a moment that stands out, something unexpected, something magical. The unpredictability of it all is my favorite part, it keeps everything exciting and real.

What advice would you give couples who are in the process of planning a wedding or elopement?

We actually eloped in Iceland too, just the two of us and honestly, it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. So, speaking both as someone who’s lived it and as a photographer who’s witnessed so many love stories, I’d say this: dream big. Your elopement day will only happen once, so don’t hold back. Go for the experience that feels right in your gut, whether that means flying in a helicopter to the top of a mountain, hiking to a remote spot or simply being somewhere that feels magical for the two of you. Take your time choosing a location that truly speaks to you and if possible, try to find a place that’s quiet and not too crowded for your vows. And even if you’re eloping, find a way to include your loved ones, maybe through a video call, a letter or a post elopement celebration. This day is yours, so make it unforgettable, make it yours and make it real.

When you’re not at a wedding, what do you love doing?

When I’m not shooting or planning elopements, you’ll probably find me out scouting new spots, hiking somewhere epic or off on an adventure with my little family. I also love a good Crossfit daily session to reset my mind and stay fit, and honestly, if there’s food involved, I’m in. I love eating (maybe a bit too much, haha).

Do you have a dream wedding or elopement you’d love to do?

I’d love to shoot an elopement in Patagonia or Antarctica.
