From Russia, With Light
I didn’t plan to rebuild my photography business from scratch three times. But life has its own ideas, and honestly, I’ve stopped being surprised by where it takes me.
Born in Russia, I followed my husband’s lifelong dream of Scandinavia and landed in Copenhagen, a city that quietly became home. What I brought with me was a camera, a marketing degree, and a stubbornness that refused to let borders get in the way of a calling.
Before Denmark, I’d already built and rebuilt my business in two different countries. Each time: new language, new market, new audience, zero clients. Each time, I packed up what I knew and started over. It was hard. It was also the best education I ever got.
Now, 14 years into Danish life, I’m also a mother of three boys, all at completely different ages and stages, which means our house is equal parts chaos, noise, and the kind of love that catches you off guard. Raising them here, watching them grow up between languages and cultures, has made me even more obsessed with capturing the moments that slip away before you notice them.
That’s exactly what I bring to every wedding and every family session. Not perfect. Real. The glance, the giggle, the hand squeeze nobody posed for.
When I’m not shooting, I’m dreaming about my next trip. I love to travel, and if I could live anywhere else in the world, it would probably be somewhere between Barcelona and the rest of Catalonia. Something about Spain, the light, the food, the unhurried way people actually live, feels like a second heartbeat to me.
My marketing background means I also think deeply about this craft as a business. I work with photographers who are trying to find their voice, their niche, and the confidence to charge what they’re worth. Because a great eye isn’t enough if nobody can find you.
I shoot weddings and families across Copenhagen and beyond. With three boys at home, 14 years of Danish life, and a heart that’s at least partly Danish and partly Spanish.

How long have you been working in the wedding industry?
I have been in the wedding industry for more than 15 years, in general family photography for 18 years, and in birth and video stories for the last 13 years
What made you get into weddings & elopements?
I love intimate shootings and small weddings, so I got into it to have a connection with people and show their real emotions and feelings.
What do you love about intimate weddings and elopements?
Weddings are the one day people let themselves feel everything fully and don’t apologize for it. I love being in that room. And elopements? That’s two people stripping away everything except what actually matters. There’s nothing more honest to photograph.

How would you describe your approach to your work?
I photograph weddings the way they actually feel: not how they’re supposed to look. My approach is quiet and close. I’m not directing the day, I’m following it (*just with a little guidance).

What’s your favourite part of a wedding day?
Time for two – either first sight or whole time only for the two.
I photograph weddings the way they actually feel: not how they’re supposed to look.
What advice would you give couples who are in the process of planning a wedding or elopement?
Hire people you trust, then let them do their job. The couples who enjoy their day the most are the ones who stopped trying to control every detail and just… showed up. Plan well, then let it go.

When you’re not at a wedding, what do you love doing?
Honestly? More of the same. I follow families through life: I meet couples before the wedding, photograph maternity and the birth, watch their kids grow and save family memories for them. That full-circle connection is what I’m in this for. A wedding is rarely a beginning with me, and never an ending. And as an average person, I like to walk my dog, I adore travelling, Spain and enjoying food. I also work as a doula and love being involved in people’s important moments.
Do you have a dream wedding or elopement you’d love to do?
Barcelona has been pulling at me for a while. The light, the architecture, the way people there exist so openly — it all makes for incredible photography. I want to build something real there: not just pass through for a wedding, but be the photographer whose families in Barcelona call for everything. The elopement, the pregnancy, the birth. I want to be there for the whole story.
