Some couples pick one spot and one day for their elopement. These two couldn’t decide, so they extended their celebration over two days. Their two-day celebration was a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and slow moments that made space for meaning. It took us through the Dolomites and just over the Austrian border, with sunrises, lake reflections, a helicopter ride, and so much laughter.

Day One: Indian Traditions, Boating at Lago di Braies, and Enjoying a Peaceful Austrian Lake

We started the morning early at Lago di Braies, arriving early to take in the stillness and soft light that makes this place feel almost surreal. Dressed in traditional Indian wedding clothes, the couple had their first look at the end of the dock on the famous boat house.

Afterwards, they hopped into one of the wooden boats and rowed out to a quiet spot in the middle of the lake — where they read handwritten letters to each other. It was one of the calmest, most connected moments of the day.

Once back on land, they exchanged flower garlands and lit a candle by the lakeshore. As more people started arriving later in the morning, a few passersby stopped to admire their outfits and offer warm congratulations. Their joy was contagious — and impossible not to notice.

After wrapping up at Braies, we drove just over the border into Austria, to another mountain lake. At this second location, they spent some time just the two of them — exploring, foraging wild blueberries, and soaking in the quiet before changing into comfy clothes and grabbing a late lunch at a nearby café.

Day Two: Helicopter Rides, Sunrise Views, and a Mountain Ceremony

The next morning started before the sun came up — and with a helicopter ride. They were in their western wedding clothes this time, and we flew over the Dolomites before landing near Seceda just as the sky started to brighten. From there, we hiked up to the ridgeline and watched the sunrise together.

After hiking back down, we flew to Tre Cime di Lavaredo and started the walk toward their ceremony location. We found a quiet spot tucked between Tre Cime and Cadini di Misurina. Their wedding planner, Jlenia, officiated the ceremony. They shared personal vows, cried a little, laughed a lot.

On the trail afterward, we ran into another couple who were also eloping, and they all took photos together — just one of those fun, unexpected moments that happens when you’re out in the Dolomites.

They ended the day with a champagne spray with dramatic Cadini peaks in the background, then made one last stop at another alpine lake on the drive home. They both passed out in the car on the way back — totally exhausted in the best way.
