What makes La Fábrica de los Genoves truly unforgettable is the way history, elegance, and nature blend effortlessly. Surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, the venue sits just steps away from two of the most iconic beaches in Andalucía: Los Genoveses and Mónsul.
Its restored industrial architecture creates a romantic and authentic atmosphere, while the warm light pouring through its large windows and the timeless textures of the old factory walls add a cinematic beauty to every moment.
Here, the desert, the sea, and the history of the factory come together to create an extraordinary setting where love stories unfold naturally, beautifully, and with a touch of magic.

Why Did the Couple Choose Almeria for Their European Wedding?

Marine & Borja: I discovered the region thanks to my husband, who is Spanish, at the beginning of our relationship. He took me to visit the area, and I immediately fell in love with it. I knew right away that this city would hold a special place in my life. So when we started imagining our wedding, the choice came naturally.

What Makes This Wedding Venue in Spain Special for Destination Weddings?

Marine & Borja: When searching for our wedding venue, we had just one criterion at first: Cabo de Gata. We dreamed of getting married in the natural park. We wanted a venue that reflected who we are—simple, authentic, and close to the sea.
When we visited Fábrica de los Genoveses, we were amazed. This beautifully restored former agricultural estate sits in the heart of nature facing the sea, offering breathtaking views of Los Genoveses beach. To reach it, you follow a long eucalyptus-lined road. It was exactly what we were looking for.
The venue has something unique that captivated us instantly. Between rustic simplicity and understated elegance, it has that calm, peaceful atmosphere that can only be found here in Cabo de Gata. It was truly love at first sight.

Can You Get Legally Married in Spain?

Marine and Borja had a real, religious ceremony.

What Sustainability Considerations Were Made (if any) For This Wedding in Spain?

Marine & Borja: We tried to incorporate some sustainable practices. We prioritized local vendors to reduce travel, chose artisanal guest gifts made in the region, and asked our catering company to favor seasonal ingredients. These are small gestures, but we did our best to reduce our environmental impact.

Did the Couple Incorporate Any Cultural Aspects of Almeria into Their Wedding?

Marine & Borja: Yes, we incorporated several elements of the local culture.
We worked with a catering company from the region so our guests could discover the typical flavors of Spain and Almería. And to thank our guests, we wanted to highlight local craftsmanship: we collaborated with an illustrator from Almería for our thank-you cards and with a local ceramics studio to create handmade bowls.

What Was the Couple’s Experience with Getting Married in Spain During November?

Marine & Borja:  it’s a beautiful time of year to get married in Almería, Spain. The temperatures are mild and the days are sunny, which is ideal for an outdoor wedding. It’s not too cold yet, and at the same time, guests wearing suits or long sleeves are not bothered by the heat—making the whole day pleasant for everyone.

Jessica, the photographer: The best time of year to celebrate a wedding or elopement at La Fábrica de los Genoves is during spring (April–June) and early autumn (September–October). During these months, the temperatures are warm but comfortable, the natural park is quieter, and the light is beautifully soft perfect for photos at Los Genoveses and Mónsul.
As for the time of day, golden hour is unmatched here. The warm, cinematic light that unfolds just before sunset transforms the landscape: the desert glows, the sea turns golden, and the factory fills with a gentle radiance. It creates the most magical atmosphere for both ceremonies and portraits.

What Are the Best Tips for Planning a Destination Wedding in Spain?

Marine & Borja: When planning a wedding abroad, our main advice would be to carefully anticipate the logistics and organization, and to surround yourself with trustworthy local vendors. It’s important to visit the location in advance and to be able to travel back regularly if possible. And for those who can, hiring a local wedding planner who knows the area well is extremely helpful. Clear communication with your guests about travel details and ensuring their comfort during their stay is also essential.

Jessica, the photographer’s advice:

Choose the right season
Cabo de Gata has beautiful weather year-round, but spring and early autumn offer the perfect balance: warm temperatures, soft light, and fewer visitors at Los Genoveses and Mónsul.

Plan around the natural light
This area is known for its golden, cinematic sunsets. Schedule your ceremony or portraits during golden hour to take full advantage of the magical light that surrounds the factory and the nearby beaches.

Consider guest logistics
The venue is surrounded by nature, so plan transportation in advance. Offering a shuttle from nearby towns like San José makes the experience smooth and relaxing for everyone.

Embrace the landscape
Make the most of the natural beauty. Minimalist décor works beautifully here—let the desert, the mountains, and the sea frame your celebration.

Protect the environment
Cabo de Gata is a protected natural park. Choose eco-friendly details: biodegradable confetti, local flowers, reusable materials, and respect for the surrounding paths and dunes.

Work with local vendors
Local professionals know the timings, the winds, and the best hidden spots for photographs. Their expertise will elevate your entire experience.

How Did the Couple Personalize Their Wedding at La Fabrica de los Genoveses?

Marine & Borja: We personalized our day by focusing on details that truly represent us and tell our story.
We chose a venue that holds meaning for us, incorporated Spanish traditions, and added French touches to represent our backgrounds.
We wanted to choose every detail of the décor especially the table settings. We had a very clear idea of what we wanted, from the colors and materials to the flowers and the handmade elements. This allowed us to create a unique and authentic atmosphere. Every element held a special significance for us.

What Challenges Did the Couple Face While Planning Their Wedding in Spain, and How Did They Overcome Them?

Marine & Borja: we faced some challenges, as is often the case when planning a wedding abroad, but they were easily overcome thanks to our wedding planners. They handled the entire organization flawlessly.

What Advice Would You Give to Others Planning a Wedding in Spain?

Marine & Borja: We recommend visiting Almería and its surroundings before the wedding to truly feel the atmosphere, discover the venues, and immerse yourselves in the local Andalusian culture.
Then, surround yourselves with local vendors who know the region inside and out—this is especially important when planning from afar.
And lastly, hire a local wedding planner. It can truly transform the experience. She will guide you, support you at every stage, and connect you with high quality vendors. It’s a tremendous help that simplifies the process and prevents many unexpected issues. And most importantly… you won’t have to worry about anything on your wedding day!

Jessica, the photographer: My biggest advice is to fully embrace the uniqueness of this place. La Fábrica de los Genoves and its surroundings offer a blend of desert, sea, and history that you won’t find anywhere else, so let the landscape guide your choices.
Take your time to explore the area before the wedding walk through the natural park, visit Los Genoveses and Mónsul, and get a feel for the light. The more connected you are with the environment, the more meaningful your celebration will feel.
Choose vendors who know Cabo de Gata well. Local experts understand the weather, the winds, the timing of the sun, and the hidden corners that can make your photos unforgettable.
And above all, plan with intention but stay flexible. This is a wild, beautiful place, and sometimes nature surprises you in the best possible way. Let the day unfold naturally and enjoy every moment.

What Made the Venue Perfect for a Small, Intimate Wedding?

Marine & Borja: Because it offers a variety of different spaces, each with its own atmosphere. This opens up endless possibilities for creating a custom layout and fully personalized décor—perfect for an intimate wedding abroad.

What Were the Most Memorable Moments from This Wedding?

Marine & Borja: Among the most memorable moments of our wedding day, there are three that will stay with us forever.
First, when the florist delivered my bouquet to the hotel before the ceremony.
Then, the moment I saw Borja waiting for me at the cathedral a suspended, emotional instant I will never forget.
And finally, after the ceremony, when we found ourselves alone in the car on the way to the reception venue: a small, timeless moment, just the two of us, to breathe and savor what we had just experienced.

Why Is Spain One of the Best Places to Get Married in Europe?

Marine & Borja: I’m not sure my answer will be entirely objective, because I adore this region deeply. But for me, it offers everything you need to experience the wedding of your dreams: warm, sunny weather; the unique atmosphere and hospitality of Andalusia; and outstanding vendors in a region where the wedding industry is flourishing.
There is also the kindness and warmth of Spanish people, which makes every interaction easy and pleasant.
And then there’s that special atmosphere in Almería that I love so much a place where time seems to slow down. Almería and its surroundings offer a sweetness, calm, and authenticity that are unique in Europe. This rare combination is what makes it, in my eyes, one of the most beautiful places to get married.
