They found a sweet local in the countryside and asked if we could exchange our vows there, and she said yes!! Truly a day that we will never forget.
We chose to elope more for us, not for other people. Planning a wedding for everyone else’s opinions rather than our own just wasn’t worth the hundreds of thousands of dollars. We spent our time in Italy, just us two, proclaiming our private love, with beautiful photos to show of it.

Val d’Orcia is incredibly generous in what it offers — light that shifts beautifully, unexpected views around every curve, quiet moments that aren’t on any schedule. Being too rigid with the timeline can mean missing some of that magic.
Of course, a solid foundation of planning is essential. But building in flexibility allows you the luxury of changing plans, even at the last minute, if it enhances the experience. Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen when you allow the day to unfold naturally rather than forcing it to follow a strict structure. No specific permits are generally required for most outdoor areas in this location. There are many spots where you can plan an elopement freely and without formal authorization.

Ethan & Mea: Make sure to schedule transportation in advance, we needed a special license to rent a car in Europe and we’re slightly panicked for the days leading up to the elopement, but Emanuel and Frederica solved this simple issue by picking us up themselves, driving us to each of our locations in their personal vehicle. So accommodating and helpful, they are so very good at figuring out a different solution.
What Advice Would You Give to Others Planning an Elopement in Tuscany?
Ethan & Mea: Bring a cute video camera, and “vlog” your time. It’s one thing we wished we did for the day to remember the small moments in between.

What Were the Most Memorable Moments from This Elopement?
Ethan & Mea: Driving through the Tuscan countryside was literally out of a movie, being with the photographers felt like family-friends. It’s like we’ve known them forever after meeting for the first time! Having our personal ceremony was the major most memorable part of our day. Both Emanuele and Frederica gave us space to exist with each other as thought we felt alone together.
