Tuscany, a dream location for many, especially for a wedding or elopement. Honey Mae and Daisy had that dream as well and actually made it happen to exchange their vows among the rolling hills at the historic Santa Maria di Vitaleta Chapel.

Why Did the Couple Choose Tuscany for Their Elopement?

Honey Mae & Daisy: Tuscany has always been a dream destination for us—its rolling hills, golden sunsets, and timeless charm created the perfect backdrop for a romantic elopement. It felt like stepping into a fairytale.

Traditional wedding planning started to feel overwhelming—we realized we were making decisions for everyone else but ourselves. Eloping gave us the freedom to slow down and truly focus on each other. It was the best decision we could’ve made.

What Makes Tuscany Special for Elopements?

Honey Mae & Daisy: Tuscany is pure romance. The people are warm, the food is divine, and the wine… speaks for itself. There’s a reason it’s a bucket-list destination.

Rita, the photographer: The landscapes are truly stunning, with the sunlight casting a beautiful glow on the trees and fields. I particularly adore the evergreen cypress trees, which not only provide a perfect framing for the photos but also quietly stand as gentle witnesses to the love stories unfolding. The little chapel offers the most charming backdrop, and the sunsets are simply breathtaking.

Can You Get Legally Married in Italy?

You can legally get married in Italy, however, Honey Mae & Daisy  opted for a symbolic ceremony to keep things simple and intimate.

Honey Mae & Daisy: The beauty of eloping is how low-impact it can be. We kept things simple and needed very little equipment or setup—just the essentials and the natural beauty around us.

Did the Couple Incorporate Any Cultural Aspects of Tuscany into Their Elopement?

Honey Mae & Daisy: Does indulging in Italian food and wine count? Because we fully immersed ourselves in the Tuscan way of life—slow mornings, vineyard visits, and enjoying every meal like it was a celebration.

What Was the Couple’s Experience with Getting Married in Tuscany During June?

Honey Mae & Daisy: We chose June, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The weather was warm, the skies clear, and the countryside in full bloom.

Rita, the photographer: The best time of year is from late spring to late fall, it is such a perfect place to elope!

What Are the Best Tips for Planning an Elopement in Tuscany?

Honey Mae & Daisy: Skip the hotel and stay at a villa! We stayed at Villa Montepulciano and it truly made the entire experience magical. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and the villa grounds were beyond romantic—every corner looked like a painting.

Rita, the photographer: Be ready to drive a bit, take a few hikes, and immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes that Tuscany has to offer. While you’ll need to travel between towns and landmarks, the winding roads are absolutely worth it for the breathtaking views they lead to.”

How Did the Couple Personalize Their Elopement?

Honey Mae & Daisy: Our incredible photographer brought vintage lamps that allowed us to keep shooting after sunset. We captured stunning images with the moon rising behind us, adding an ethereal touch to our gallery.

What Challenges Did the Couple Face While Planning Their Elopement in Tuscany, and How Did They Overcome Them?

Honey Mae & Daisy: The hardest part was getting started. We were indecisive at first, unsure of what we really wanted. But once we paused, reflected, and aligned on our vision, everything began to fall beautifully into place.

What Advice Would the Couple Give to Others Planning an Elopement in Tuscany?

Honey Mae & Daisy: Hire a (mostly) local photographer! Ours was not only talented but also incredibly helpful in guiding us to beautiful, lesser-known spots. Having someone who knows the area took a huge weight off our shoulders.

Rita, the photographer: Be ready to adjust your plans if the weather takes a turn, but also be open to embracing the elements!

What Were the Most Memorable Moments from This Elopement?

Honey Mae & Daisy: Driving top-down through the Tuscan countryside in a rented Mini Cooper was pure joy. But the highlight? Hiking to Chapel Vitaleta in our wedding attire, only to be serenaded by a group of local girls singing in Italian. It was spontaneous, heartfelt, and unforgettable.

Why Is Chapel Vitaleta One of the Best Places to Get Married in Europe?

Honey Mae & Daisy: Chapel Vitaleta is one of Tuscany’s most iconic landmarks, yet when we arrived, it was just us. The quiet, the views, and the hike up the hill made it all feel sacred. Standing beside that centuries-old chapel on a hilltop, exchanging vows under the Tuscan sky—it was everything we imagined and more.
