Paul and Caireen first crossed paths at university, but it wasn’t until years later that their friendship blossomed into romance. Both share a love for winter sports—Paul on his snowboard and Caireen on skis—so it felt only fitting that Caireen proposed to Paul during a trip to Canada. From that moment, they knew a wedding in the mountains would be the perfect way to celebrate their love.

A White Lounge Igloo Wedding in Mayrhofen

Although Paul and Caireen love visiting the Dolomites in Italy and initially considered getting married there, finding the ideal location proved challenging. Eventually, they fell in love with Mayrhofen in Austria and decided it would be the perfect place to tie the knot. They envisioned a day that was simple, joyful, and shared with their closest friends and family. That’s when they discovered the White Lounge—an igloo village perched on Ahorn Mountain—and knew it was the dream venue for them.

On the wedding day, strong winds swept through the Zillertal Valley. Although the sun was shining, the couple opted to hold the ceremony inside the cozy dome of the White Lounge rather than outdoors. Two of their close friends led the ceremony, making it an incredibly personal and heartfelt experience, filled with touching stories about Paul and Caireen and meaningful vows.

A Day Full of Mountain-Themed Details

Their passion for the mountains influenced every element of the day. In a playful twist on tradition, the couple replaced the usual handfasting cord with ski socks, and their wedding rings rested on a Playmobil ski-doo instead of a pillow. Though they didn’t marry in the Dolomites as originally planned, the region still had a special place in the celebration: their custom-made rings featured engravings of their favorite peaks.

When it came to their wedding attire, Caireen chose a stunning lace gown that she could comfortably ski in, while Paul made sure his waistcoat and tie matched his snowboarding gear. To complete the look, Caireen added a breathtaking blue bridal coat—hand-sewn by herself!

Laughter, Snowball Fights, and a Perfect Ending

After the ceremony, guests stepped outside to warm up under the sunshine—yes, it was warmer outdoors than inside the igloo! In true mountain spirit, the couple added a fun twist to the traditional group photo, sparking an impromptu snowball fight at the top of the mountain. With glasses of champagne raised and a homemade cake cut, it was time for the newlyweds to hit the slopes. The couple enjoyed a few final runs, capturing photos along the way, before the lifts closed and the call of the last ride signaled the end of their perfect day on Ahorn Mountain.
