Zermatt is a charming mountain village in the Swiss Alps, renowned for its stunning scenery, outdoor activities, and unique character. Located in the canton of Valais, it lies at the foot of the iconic Matterhorn, one of the most famous mountains in the world.
It’s an incredible location for an elopement. And that is just what today’s couple did! A Summer hiking elopement in the gorgeous mountains. This couple planned an unforgettable experience with multiple mountain lakes, star gazing, staying in a mountain hut, a picnic and touring the Matterhorn with a helicopter. Let’s dive into this amazing elopement!
Tell us a bit about the day(s)
From Wild Souls United: this elopement was planned as a once in a lifetime adventure. The couple stayed in a beautiful chalet where they got ready. The gardens of the chalet are beautiful and made for the perfect backdrop for their emotional first look.
The old town is amazing here too and the couple enjoyed the town while heading to the helipad where the helicopter awaited to take them around the Matterhorn and all the way to the peak of a mountain with stunning views of the Matterhorn for their ceremony.
They exchanged their vows at the peak of the mountain, surrounded by snow covered mountains. The amazing views of the Alps never disappoint!
The ceremony was emotional and heartfelt.
After the ceremony the helicopter took them to another mountain peak from where they took an hour hike down to a mountain hotel. The hike had breathtaking views and we could even see the stunning Gornergrat glacier in the distance.
After a warm meal in the hotel, it was time for another hike. This time to a lake! They grabbed lanterns and a picnic basket and set off on their second hike of the day.
A herd of beautiful sheep guided them on their way. The couple enjoyed their picnic by the lake, had their first dance and gazed at the abundance of stars above them.
Day 2 started by leaving the hotel at 5am with another picnic basket to enjoy later as breakfast.
This day consisted of a 5 kilometer hike to 3 different lakes in the area.
At the second lake they enjoyed their picnic as breakfast.
What an amazing and unforgettable adventure for this couple!
